The school always promotes the importance of putting faith into action as reflected in the school motto of, 'to Learn and Act with Heart and Mind'.  The community puts into practice initiatives that are​ consistent with the themes of the Catholic Social Teachings with respect for the dignity of the human person as the focus.  St James supports on an annual basis, in both a practical and monetary way the following:  Caritas' Project Compassion, St Vincent de Paul, the Catholic Missions and the Augustinian Appeal.  Opportunities to encourage a prayerful response to justice issues is communicated in the newsletter, emails, and class blogs, in assembly prayer, at meetings, and in foyer displays. Efforts are made to ensure that actions are linked to biblical scriptural references as inspired by Jesus.
