The library is a key component to the teaching and development of a love of Literacy for our students at St James. Children come to read, borrow, browse, create and play in this vibrant learning centre. The library is open every day and before school on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Students are very welcome in the Library during the day for class lessons and small group work.
The library has an extensive range of junior fiction, fiction and nonfiction books and a range of resources for teachers and parents. St James has a dedicated Librarian, who is committed to finding new and exciting books to share with our students and spark their interest and curiosity about literature and reading.
All the children have scheduled borrowing time each week. During this time, they can choose books to take home and share with their families. In their Library lessons, the teacher librarian works collaboratively with the classroom teacher to offer further experiences and provide resources to enhance the classroom learning.
